The purpose of this work was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of a new commercial eye spray containing Biosecur citrus extract (Oftasecur\u00ae, Off Health, Florence, Italy).<\/p>\n\n
IVT endophthalmitis remains a nonnegligible complication, with an estimated incidence ranging from 0.019% to 0.083%. Prophylaxis with a new antiseptic eye spray composed of bioflavonoids (Oftasecur) may reduce the ocular microbial burden of the conjunctiva and potentially further reduce the incidence of IVT-related endophthalmitis.<\/p>\n\n
Prophylactic administration of natural, chemical-free antiseptic compounds such as bioflavonoids may be a viable treatment option in order to reduce the incidence of IVT endophthalmitis, overcoming the drawbacks common to antibiotic agents.<\/p>\n\n

Oftasecur eye spray<\/strong>, administered four times daily starting 4 days before the IVT procedure, has been shown to be effective in significantly reducing the ocular microbial load in the conjunctiva.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nOftasecur eye spray was well tolerated by all subjects in the study group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
