LENIVAbio sterile gauze: hygiene beyond eyelid care

Proper eyelid hygiene plays a fundamental role in the health of the ocular surface. It is to be considered as a necessity and is the main prerequisite to prevent the onset of inflammatory or infectious phenomena affecting the eyelid itself, the conjunctiva and the cornea as well as a useful adjunct to specific therapies in ongoing diseases. Prophylaxis before and after ophthalmic surgery also finds proper eyelid cleansing a useful contribution considering that the periocular area is normally colonized by a variety of commensal and pathogenic microorganisms that can be responsible for ocular infections when defense mechanisms are inadequate and among these, microorganisms multidrug-resistant (MDR) and methicillin-resistant (MRSA).
Proper eyelid hygiene becomes indispensable in cases of:
- Conjunctivitis (bacterial, viral, allergic)
- Blepharites
- Calazi
- Styes
- Surgical interventions (in the pre- and post-operative)
It is essential, therefore, to use specific and properly formulated products such as LENIVAbio sterile gauze pads. LENIVAbio sterile gauze pads are gauze pads soaked in a buffered, alcohol-free, paraben-free, latex-free isotonic solution containing:
- Citrus extract (Biosecur®)
- Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera (extract from leaves)
- Ruscus aculeatus (dry extract)
- Biosecur® a patented complex of Bioavonoids and Polyphenols with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe antimicrobial additive (GRAS Certified) and acts as an antiseptic by keeping the bacterial load in check and thus helping to prevent possible infectious processes. Ruscus aculeatus has antiphlogistic, antiedemigenous, vasotrophic and astringent properties that can limit vascular permeability.
- Hyaluronic Acid due to its properties promotes hydration and elasticity of the thin and delicate skin layer of the periocular and eyelid area. Hyaluronic Acid also is able to interact with specific receptors in the intracellular space and induce reparative phenomena of suffering tissues (wound healing).
- Aloe vera has been shown to inhibit the production of free radicals, dicontrast inflammation, fight bacterial, viral and fungal infections, and promote re-epithelialization processes.
LENIVAbio is indicated where “hygiene beyond cure” is needed in the removal of residues from desquamation of the eyelid surface or secretions resulting from inflammatory and/or allergic phenomena or as an adjuvant in the treatment of certain ophthalmic diseases such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis. LENIVAbio, due to its unique formulation, finds use in prophylaxis before and after ophthalmic surgery. LENIVAbio respects the hydrolipidic film present on the skin surface.
